Gum Infection And Its Indicators

It is important to realize that periodontitis is chronic, insidious, and episodic in nature. Periodontal disease and gum infection may be diagnosed through a dental assessment and evaluation. Patients experiencing periodontal disease or having a gum infection should seek professional dental help from a dentist or periodontist. Only the dentist or periodontist can address issues regarding the teeth, gums and oral cavity. Gum infection may spread below the gum line and even in the other parts of th body and may enter the bloodstream and can cause cardiovascular diseases to occur such as heart attack as the most common. Gum infection is being indicated by red, tender and swollen gums, when these indications are noticed at its early stage it is necessary to have a dental expert check on it for proper treatment may be administered.

Allowing Swollen Gums To Progress To Periodontal Disease

It is very disgusting waking up one morning having painful puffy gums. Swollen gums may occur even with proper oral hygiene practice. There are several factors that causes gums to swell and the most common are when food particles stuck in between the gum line and plaque.

Plaque are formed from bacteria that produces acids which are responsible for gum inflammation. Bacteria are formed from food particles left in the mouth. At the first sign of swollen gums, it shouldn’t be neglected for it can progress to periodontal disease and can lead to the development of certain medical conditions such as heart attack and stroke as the most common. Simple swollen gums can be prevented through proper oral hygiene and regular dental visits. Regular brushing and flossing after meals is recommended to keep bacteria away from building inside the mouth.
